CLIMBING MOUNT KILIMANJARO
CLIMBING MOUNT KILIMANJARO
Mount Kilimanjaro, at 19,340 feet, is the world’s tallest free-standing mountain and Africa’s highest peak. Surrounded by tea and coffee plantations the routes traverse through spectacular landscapes of five temperate zones ranging from forest to alpine desert before reaching the summit. This once in a lifetime adventure will give you extraordinary sunrise views extending hundreds of miles from the rooftop of Africa.
The prices below include: Kilimanjaro trekking according to the itinerary, professional English-speaking guide, porters, meals, drinking water, overnight stays in hotels and mountain huts, all national park fees and airport transfers from Kilimanjaro airport.
Known as the "Coca-Cola" route, the Marangu route approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast. It is the oldest, most well established route. Many favor the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path.
Known as the “Whiskey Route” because of the tougher challenge, this path leads you through magnificent forests before traversing a ridge leading through moorland to the Shira Plateau. It offers beautiful scenery beneath the glaciated precipices of the Southern Icefields before summiting from the higher Barafu Camp.
The Rongai route ascends Kilimanjaro from the north-eastern side of the mountain, along the border between Tanzania and Kenya. This route retains a sense of unspoilt wilderness and offers a different perspective on Kilimanjaro by approaching it from the north.
